Start of the coffee roasting company
Karel Beyers Sr. acquires the De Schutter coffee roasting
company located in the Antwerp Seefhoek district.
1928
Company name changes to Beyers
Karel Beyers Sr. lends his name to the company.
1937
Death of company founder Karel Beyers Sr.
His 4 young sons, Eduard, Edmond, Louis and Constant continue
working and the firm is now called Gebroeders Beyers (Beyers Brothers) and co.
1957
Beyers becomes Beyers NV
From now on, the official name of the company is Beyers Koffie NV.
1964
Son Karel joins the firm
The brothers welcome Louis' son Karel into the business.
1966
First vacuum machine
Beyers Koffie was the first to install a vacuum packaging machine in Belgium.
Following that, we were also the first to work with Italian machine suppliers.
1972
Takeover of Van IJsendyk
After the takeover of NV Van IJsendyk, a coffee roasting company, but primarily
a green coffee importer, Beyers Coffee moved to the De Burburestraat in
‘Het Zuid’ district in Antwerp city centre.
1993
Café d’Anvers
To mark the occasion of Antwerp as Cultural Capital of Europe in 1993, Beyers
introduced Café d’Anvers, a heavenly mild 'city coffee', using a blend recipe from 1903.
1994
New coffee roasting company in Puurs
Start of Kimbo in Belgium
On April 22nd, Flemish Minister-President Luc Van den Brande laid the first stone
for the new modern coffee roasting plant in Puurs. It was a joint investment with
Café do Brasil, company located in Naples and owned by the Rubino family. In November,
there was a full takeover of Beyers Coffee. Nevertheless, Karel Beyers is still running the company.
2004
Takeover of Fort and E.P. Leidsche
Beyers has further reinforced its image with the takeover of the Fort coffee roasting
company in the Belgian town Itegem and the sales office E.P. Leidsche, a firm
in Ridderkerk in the Netherlands.
